Chapter 16: The Secret of the Horcruxes

Obi-Wan was discussing something with Eli and Swiper when Danny, Luke, the ponies and Spike rush into the room. The animals exclaims, excitedly, "Obi-Wan! Eli!"
"Whoa, calm down, everyone, calm down!" Eli exclaims in surprise and amusement at the group. "What brings you out up here after nightfall?"
"We did it, Obi-Wan; we got Skroob's true memory!" Danny exclaims with a smile as he hold up a vial which Obi-Wan takes in surprise yet delight.
"So you all did. Wonderful! How were you able to..." Obi-Wan was about to ask as to how Danny's group was able to get the memory. "Ah, on second thought, never mind. Not important."
"So how is Lemmy?" Eli ask the group wondering how Skroob is recently.
"He's fine, no worries about him for now." Luke assures Eli with a shrug.
Obi-Wan nods as he goes over to the Myst Image then tip his hand, causing the long strand of memory to come out, hanging on the glass. Soon a pearl forms and as it does, Danny glances and saw a familiar drawing that Anakin did of a cave and distinct outcropping from Obi-Wan's memory.
The pearl/memory soon fell right into the device. Danny and Luke nods as they put their heads into the liquid. Time now to see the true memory...

Flashback

Like before Danny and Luke find themselves in Skroob's office, years when he was younger and when Anakin was having a party with a young Anakin Skywalker and several other boys. The crystal hourglass sits on a side table as the entertainment continues.
Anakin spoke up in curiosity, "Professor; is it true that Professor Blaine is going to retire soon?"
Skroob just chuckles, waving a finger at Anakin while saying, "Well, I couldn't tell you even if I do know, right? I gotta say, I want to know where you get your information. More knowledgeable then than half of the staff, that's what you are." The other boys laugh at this. "Oh, thanks for the pineapple, Annie. You're quite right, it is my favorite. How is it that you knew?"
"Intuition." Anakin answers with a smile. Skroob smiles back but the way he did that suggest that intuition got nothing to do with it. The professor chuckles uneasily.
"Yes, yes. Whoa! Look at the time! Off you go or Professor Gandalf will put us all in detention! Doom, Boom-Boom, don't forget your essays!"
The students leave the room, preparing to head to their dooms for the night. Skroob chuckles as he busies himself with some papers, preparing to get some work done; when the professor turn around, he saw, to his surprise, Anakin still in the room, looking at the crystal hourglass. Odd!
"Better not dawdle, Anakin. You don't want to be caught out of bed after hours." Skroob said, concerned for Anakin for the possibility of him getting into trouble should he get caught out of bed after hours.
"Yes, I know a secret shortcut or two." Anakin assures Skroob with a secret smile. Apparently the future wicked Sith has no worries in getting to bed without getting caught.
"Oh, well I guess you do. So do you have something on your mind if you have any reason for staying here?"
"Yes, sir. I couldn't think of anyone else to talk to about this. In fact, the other professors...they aren't like you at all. I am worried that if I ask them, they might...misunderstand."
"Well, go on." Skroob said as he took off a ring on his left hand and roll it between his fingers, being set with a black stone. Whatever Anakin want to ask him, it can't be bad, right?
"Well, the thing is, I was in the library the other night, in the Restricted Section." Anakin begins to say as if pondering about a question that he wants to ask Skroob. "I notice something rather odd, a bit of rare magic that was forgotten since long ago. Perhaps you could tell me about it. This ancient magic was said to be made by a creature named Sauron...I believe it is called a Horcrux." This causes the professor's smile to disappear.
"What?"
"Horcrux; I came across a term while reading and don't understand it. The subject has something to do with Sauron, an evil creature that plaque the lands and created a powerful weapon called the One Ring."
Skroob looks concerned then spoke up, "Not sure what you were reading, Annie, but what you found is very Dark magic, yes, very dark indeed."
"Yes, sir, that is why I came to you. No disrespect to the rest of the staff but if anyone can tell me about the Horcruxes...it would be you." Anakin said, making a smile. The professor hesitates, looking disturbed.
"All right; well, as it said, Sauron found the magic centuries ago. A Horcrux is an object that a person can use to conceal a part of his or her own soul."
"Right, I thought it was something like that, but how does that work, sir? I don't understand."
Skroob seriously continues his explanation to Anakin, "It involves splitting one's soul and hides a part of it in an object. When you do that, you are protected even if you were to be attacked and your body was destroyed."
"Protected? As in no matter what happens to you, one will never die?" Anakin ask Skroob who looks at himself in a nearby mirror.
"Correct: that part of your soul can be hidden, living on. And you cannot die no matter what. Sauron did the same thing, putting his soul in the One Ring which was thankfully destroyed when it was thrown into Mount Doom centuries ago."
"But how does one split his soul, sir?"
Skroob pauses then gives a grim answer to his answer, "Annie, I believe you can guess the answer to that. Sauron has committed the most ungodful way of doing so in attempt to live."
"Murder," Anakin said as if pretending to be shocked (which he is).
"Yes, killing rips the soul apart, a violation against nature and God." Skroob explains to Anakin more grimly. "Like Sauron, if that happens, one will never be the same."
"I see. One more bit of question, any chance you can, say, split your soul more than one? I mean, killing one person isn't enough...but would seven be the most magically number to stop at?" Anakin ask Skroob with a thoughtful look; Hearing that made the teacher gasps in alarm and concern.
"Seven! By the beard of Gandalf, Anakin, isn't it bad enough to kill one person?! To rip the soul into seven pieces and...please tell me that this is hypothetical, right? All academic and nothing serious..."
"Relax, sir. It is as you want it to be. I promise that I will not speak of our private conversion. It will be our little secret..."
Anakin then reach out and put out the flame of a candle with a pinch. Smoke rises as the flashback ends...

End Flashback

Soon Danny and Luke put their heads out of the surface of the Myst Image Device; it shows the image of Anakin quivering. The ponies look worried as Obi-Wan and Eli begins to get troubled.
"Man, what the hay was that about?" Rainbow ask, getting a bit worried.
"Sir..." Danny begins to say, noticing his headmaster's look but the Jedi held up his withered hand to quiet him before he turns around. The others look, waiting for an answer.
Obi-Wan then spoke eerily, "Yes, this is beyond anything I imagined, Eli, everyone. In all my life, I have seen things that are unimaginably horrible. I know now, you will see worse..."
"Yes...he has done it; it is as we feared, Obi-Wan." Eli said seriously to Obi-Wan.
"Sir, do you think he succeeded...in making a Horcrux?" Fluttershy squeaks to Obi-Wan scared. She and the others also saw the events of what's happening in the memory from outside it.
"Oh yes, Fluttershy, he did...and not more than just once." Obi-Wan answers Fluttershy's question grimly.
Swiper blinks while asking, "How many did Annie make? Seven?"
"Danny, Luke, think carefully. Anakin practically told us."
Danny pauses to think then gasps while saying, "Seven. Luke's dad made seven...the most magically number."
Swiper gasps in horror as if the world is ending right now, "He...made seven! Seven pieces; that's insane! Is that why he wears that suit?!"
"With his soul split apart like that, that may be the case." Luke said in concern. "But what are the Horcruxes? My father could've used anything.""
"They can be of any object, the most commonplace of any. A ring for example...or a book; Danny, Luke, you, Ryan and Ash has already took care of this problem in the second year." Obi-Wan said while opening a drawer. The Jedi took out some sort of a ring and a familiar battery diary. "Do you two recognize this?"
"Anakin Skywalker's diary," Danny gasps in shock, recognizing the same diary that Anakin/Vader's memory lived in that almost killed June, Misty and Jesse until the halfa destroyed it.
"Yes, Danny, the same one you destroyed to save the lives of Juniper Lee, Misty Williams and Jesse in the Chamber of Doom. When you destroyed it that year, what you didn't know that the diary is also a Horcrux. Only when I saw this diary, then I knew what my former apprentice has done. This was a different kind of magic, very dark and powerful."
"Until tonight, we didn't know how powerful." Eli said seriously."
"So what about the ring itself," Spike asks while glancing at the ring.
"Danny, you recognized this as the one that once belonged to Vader's mother Shmi after getting it from his grandfather in one of the memories." Obi-Wan said with a nod. Come to think about it, Danny does recognize the ring from the memory involving Vader's dead family. "It was difficult to find and...even more difficult to destroy..."
"Is that what happened to your hand?" Swiper asks as he glances at Obi-Wan's damaged hand. "Oh, man!"
"That leaves two destroyed." Luke said thoughtfully but in concern at the same time. "But we still don't know what the other Horcruxes could be."
"We do know this: one of them is indeed inside Vader himself, his new body." Eli explains to the others sternly. "We must leave that one for last for it will be the most difficult to destroy. Therefore, the other four must be destroyed."
"As for the others, Danny, Luke, think of the memories you have seen up to now besides Skroob's." Obi-Wan said, giving out wisdom to the two boys. "The hints of two of them are in the memories."
Danny and Luke pauses as they think about the other memories involving Anakin/Vader. The halfa was the first to speak, "Of course...the locket of Darth Bane AKA Sauron..."
"And the cup of Ahsoka Tano," Luke exclaims in realization. "My father must be using the objects belonging to the founders of Toonwarts as his Horcruxes."
"We do know this...Anakin did not get the sword belonging to Avatar Roku." Obi-Wan said, nodding to a familiar sword on display nearby. "As thus far, it's the only object belonging to him."
"So Vader either gotten an object belonging to Princess Peach Toadstool...or another object belonging to Roku that is unknown." Eli said in concern. So far, that's two Horcruxes identified, one more to figure out.
"And what about the last one," Ben ask the professors in concern.
"Danny, do you remember when you saw Jonathan Long's attack at the High Command before it was renamed?" Obi-Wan ask Danny, wanting his student to recall a certain time when Jonathan was attacked and it was thanks to the halfa that he was saved.
"Yeah, I saw Vader's Arbok Sheila trying to kill him...through the Pokémon's POV..." Danny said, having a shocking revelation. "Wait, are you saying..."
"Correct: the Arbok that Vader owns is indeed the last of the Horcruxes; that is how you were able to see what she was doing on that night."
"A Pokémon being a Horcrux," Rarity said, shivering a bit in fear, "How vile!"
"And deadly; one problem when making a living object a Horcrux: one you destroy him, her or it, the creature in question will be destroyed as well, killed." Eli said with a nod of his head. "That is why it is risky to do that."
"We know that Vader will do his best to keep Sheila safe from all harm so she must be the second to last to go." Swiper said, knowing that Vader won't make it easy for anyone to destroy his pet Arbok.
"So if you could find them all....if one destroy each Horcrux..." Danny said, having a thought of realization.
"Only then will one destroy Vader himself..." Obi-Wan said as Danny begins to reach out for the ring.
"Well, we know what they are but how will we find them? Besides Sheila, the Horcruxes could be hidden anywhere!"
"True, but magic, especially the dark kind..."
When Danny makes contact with the ring, suddenly images flash by in his mind: Vader's face flashing in pain, a derelict house deep in a haunted clearing, a familiar cup begin taken from an old woman's snake, Anakin slithering through the damp grass, and of course Obi-Wan slipping the ring onto his finger, cringing as his skin begins to decay.
"It leaves trace." Obi-Wan said with a grim nod. Danny finally let go of the ring, causing it to slide across Obi-Wan's desk. The halfa put a hand to his chest, looking bewildered while the Jedi watch the ring spin around. Then he and the others look at Danny.
"Danny, are you all right?" Twilight ask her owner. As Danny nods, the Jedi put his hand, touching the center of the halfa's chest with the tips of his ashen fingers, as if seeing into Danny's heart somehow.
Luke finally recognize something, making him ask Obi-Wan, "So, is that where you've been going, sir? When you leave the school?"
Danny glances at a postcard on a desk which shows where the Jedi was going during last Christmas. Obi-Wan removes his hand, nodding while studying Danny oddly.
"Yes...and I think I may have found another...but this time I cannot hope to destroy it alone." Obi-Wan said seriously. Danny and Luke saw the Jedi nodding; they realize that he is asking them in coming with him to where the next Horcrux is at. "Once again, I asked too much of you two boys."

A while later, Danny, Luke, Swiper, the ponies and Spike calls in their friends, explaining to them as to what they have learned, especially about the Horcruxes; The halfa decides to bring June into this, she deserves to know as to what the girl got herself into with Anakin's diary those years ago.
"Horcruxes," Ryan gasps in horror after hearing the story, especially when Sauron is involved. "Oh no, this is bad. This is really bad. "
"Why is it bad, Ryan dawg?" Jake asks Ryan in concern, not liking the sound of that.
"It's bad...because...well, how should I put this; A-ha. Think of the One Ring, only much more difficult and more numerous to destroy. Which is how Vader got his idea."
"Meaning?" Betty ask Ryan in worry.
Ryan continues his explanation, "As mentioned in Skroob's memory, the Horcruxes are dark objects that contain the malignant spirit of a Dark Wizard, just like the Ring contained Sauron's evil soul...and like the Ring--."
"They can turn you invisible?" June ask Ryan in fright.
"Well, not exactly, June. What I was about to say was, like the One Ring...a Horcrux can corrupt and destroy anyone who tries to destroy them or tries to wield them."
"Just like Anakin's diary tried to corrupt and destroy me."
"Should we have not discovered this, Ryan?" Danny asks, wondering if it's really a bad idea to find out about the Horcruxes. Maybe there's a reason why Skroob chose to change his memory and keep the true one hidden at all cost.
"Was it a bad idea?" Luke ask in concern.
Ryan answers in his own way, "Well yes...and no."
"What do you mean by 'yes...and no', Mister Ryan?" Cream asks Ryan, not sure as to what the Narnian meant by his answer.
"What I mean, Cream...is that I'm glad that Danny and Luke found out the truth, which is the good news."
Shadow then ask Ryan, "Well, what's the bad news, Ryan?"
"The bad news is, Shadow....that we don't know how many of these Horcruxes Vader will have made. And who knows who might be in possession of them? If only Gandalf were here, he'd have known what to do."
"Actually, we do. There are seven in all." Swiper said seriously to Ryan. "Two of them are Anakin's diary and a ring that belonged to his grandfather, both of which are destroyed. That leaves five left to destroy."
"The next two are the locket of Darth Bane AKA Sauron and the cup that belongs to Ahsoka Tano herself." Danny said, counting off the Horcruxes. "The third object of course is either an item that belongs to Princess Peach or something unknown that belonged to Avatar Roku."
"And the last two Horcruxes are Darth Vader and his Pokémon Arbok Sheila." Luke said, bringing in the last two Horcruxes. "Obi-Wan recommended that those two will be saved for last, due to how difficult they will be."
Gemerl pauses a bit, then he said, "Success are the odds of 70% to 1%. We will have to deal with Vader's armies while going after the Horcruxes, especially since the Nobodies has since broke off from the Council of Narnia and joined the Sith Lord's side."
"If Vader has control of the Heartless and Nobodies...what about the Unversed," Swiper ask in worry.
"I don't know too much about the Unversed, but I do know this. When he makes his assault on the world, he will unleash his massive legions of Orcs on us all." Ryan said, much to the worry of his friends and family.
"Joy!"
Upon hearing Swiper's sarcastic remark, Danny then asks the fox, "What do you mean by that, Swiper?"
"Well, the Orcs I don't know much about, Ryan has them covered, but the Unversed were created by Ansem's brother: Master Xehanort, a Keyblade Master." Swiper explains to Danny. The others gasps a bit. Ansem's brother created the Unversed?
Ryan then ask Swiper in concern, "How did he make these...these...Unversed creatures?"
"They came to be when Xehanort created Vanitas, the darkness of a kid named Ventus. Because Vanitas was created from the purest of darkness, he was able to give his negative emotions physical form. The Unversed were born."
Danny shudders a bit while adding, "Whoa...that sounds incredibly wicked."
"That sounds like a fate much worse than death, Swiper dawg." Jake said upon hearing that explanation.
Swiper nods, saying, "Yeah...it is."
"Even worse than the Killing Curse." Betty remarked, a bit freaked out.
"Yeah, well I can name a curse that's much worse than that. The Hom-Dai," Shadow remarks seriously to his friends.
Ryan then ask Shadow in concern, "The Hom-Dai; The worst and most secret of Dark Magic?"
"Oh yes. In fact, it's the worst of all curses, whether by ancient or modern standards. It's only used for the most evil of blasphemers. It's so horrible that it had only been performed once...and that's a story that I don't want to delve into."
Danny shudders a bit. If what Ryan and Shadow suggesting is true, the hero hopes not to see that 'Hom-Dai' spell anytime soon!

Author's note
