Chapter 7: Traffic Problems

Soon near day light, something was chopping the branches which turns out to be Bugs Bunny using his action chopping function. Soon the rabbit chopped through the last branch that was in the way.

"Hugh? Did anybody hear screaming tiny voices," Bugs asked off in looking about in thinking he heard something?

"No, I haven't heard anything." Nicole came near with Unknown in hearing Bugs say that he heard tiny voices.

"Hugh, and here I thought it was a mini-me as a bug from another story with a blue genie that screamed off." Bugs issued off in what his rabbit ears manage to pick up, they are good at hearing things some other toys with smaller ears can't pick up.

"Bugs, even I find that random act of Breaking the Fourth Wall, a bit...unknown, in our current situation." Unknown spoke to appear in looking at the rabbit in doubtful manner of that being a joke gag. But unknown to the other toys, this known Author seem to recall what Bugs describe from another story from an Author friend, but it must be kept a secret...for the time being.

"Eh, you're right doc, let’s keep it going crew." Bugs shrug off to say in thinking he must've heard wrong.

Soon Bugs lead with Unknown & Nicole nearby as Iago, Donald, Willie & Goofy were trying to go through the thick bushes.

"Hey there Bugs, can we slow down?" Iago asked off in sounding a bit tired out all of a sudden. "Do I have to remind you that 'some' of us are carrying over six dollars in change here?" The parrot toy issued about himself being a bank of Tommy's money . As Iago went by, Donald was dragging his hands while Willie seems about ready to topple over.

"Oooh, losing health units; me need rest." Willie spoke off to say to just stop by where they had open spaces.

"Okay docs, is everyone present & accounted for? No cash needed , of course." Bugs asked off in seeing Goofy appear lastly after Willie while making sure they're together while he & Nicole were checking the map.

"Well, not 'quite' everyone is present." Donald waved off his tired right hand to say someone is behind.

"Well then, who's behind?" Bugs narrow his eyes from the map to ponder who was falling behind them.

"Gawrsh; that be mine," Goofy spoke off to say which everyone turns to see....Goofy's bottom part trying to come up from behind. Soon that bottom fell on the ground, tired out.

"Well that was very...straight to the point." Unknown spoke to tilt his head in seeing this random act had a calling for such an easy running gag.

"Hey, guys." Iago's voice was heard calling out to the others which they see the parrot near another bush. "Why do the toys cross the road?" Iago asked off this question for them to solve.

"Sorry, but we can't deal with the jokes right now, Iago." Bugs spoke off in feeling they don't have time for riddles while moving ahead of the group.

"Oh, goody, I love me some riddles. Why?" Willie clapped his hands in feeling perky about this as the toys were moving up to follow Bugs while slightly curious about the riddle.

"Simple. To get to the chicken....On the Other Side," Iago slowly was speaking before turning his head to stare straight forward for the gang to understand his riddle question.

Soon as the toys came up to the parrot, they looked forward to see that just ahead of them was none other than Cartman's Toy Fortress place. The same place that the kidnapper is supposed to work at  that took Mickey Mouse. Soon the other toys are cheering in seeing they made it to the destination's location.

"Hooray! The Chicken," Willie hollered out in seeing this, everyone was smiling happily to see they came to the spot at last.

"At last, we've made it." Unknown signs in feeling a bit relieved that they found this place, now that just leaves finding out about Eric Cartman & Mickey is as good as found.

"The only thing to do is cross the road to reach the store." Nicole pointed out what they'll need to do now, they may be near the location, now they need to get into the building itself.

Just then, a big rig truck drove on by that made a soda can wobble a bit from the wind pressure. Then another car drove by that flatten the can to knock it off the road...to land near the toys that have witness the act. They go out there, and they'll end up crushed & broken to pieces.

"Um...oh, well. Dugh, at least we tried." Willie shrugs off to sheepishly say with a nervous reaction to what happened.

"Not so fast, laughing boy. We'll have to cross this place." Bugs grabbed Willie's pants to hold the giant toy from leaving with a determine expression.

"Huugh," Willie, Donald, Iago, & Goofy gasped in horror of the idea.

"What the...You're not turning this duck into a roasted duck." Donald yelped out before protesting to Bugs idea of them saying that the gang needs to cross this dangerous terrain while cars are driving on it.

"Gawrsh Bugs, I may not be the smartest of dogs, but I sure do know what road kill is." Goofy pointed out with a stern skeptical look on his face to the road, even a goof like him knows this is dangerous.

"Hey Nicole, you're a computer toy, any intel in how we can get by with, oh say...a WALKING PATH!?" Iago was calmly asking before shouting that they need to find a really safe way to cross this road.

"I'm sorry, even if we did take one, other people would & we would be fully exposed." Nicole sadly shook her head, the only safe route is known to humans and they be likely spotted & get too much attention.

"The risk is too great to expose our secret to the humans." Unknown nods in agreement, that plan isn't as safe as it sounds, so the gang needs a new plan.

"Well now, there must be a safe way to get across." Bugs made a stern serious face, trying to think, what can be a safe way to help them out?

"Perhaps, that way," Unknown pointed for the rabbit toy to follow where there were traffic cones lying around. "What if we use those cones to hide under while being kept in place to divert traffic," Unknown saw that if they use the cones to hide themselves while keeping vehicles from harming them, it might do the trick without exposing their existence as toys that are alive.

"Human laws state that they must avoid traffic cones where centered, but we'll need to work  together to cooperate to survive such odds." Nicole concluded this plan while stating the chances of making it out unless the toys work well to not get crushed.

"It's a risky gamble , but it's a worth a shot. Come on!" Bugs replied off in seeing that the gang got no choice, they'll have to take the gamble of 50 percent chance of surviving this.

A traffic light was shown green then yellow to red as it was controlling the traffic.

"Okay. Here's our chance. Ready. Set. Go." Bugs's voice was heard out before issuing their moment to get a move out.

We soon see what look like seven to eight orange traffic cones making their way onto the street while nothing is coming at them. But in truth, it was actually Bugs, Unknown & the rest of the toy gang hiding beneath the cones to not draw in any attention while only their feet & slinky spring body were seen outside the cones. Some were trying to remain focus, others like Willie were mumbling with worry if they'll be okay.

Soon the traffic light turned red on one side and green on the other. Bugs senses a car coming causing him to yell, "Drop!" The toys quickly dropped the cones. This causes the vehicle to turn in alarm and heads into an entrance though the front tires  got popped as a result. A truck hits it in the rear. "Go!"

The gang picks up the cones and continues  onward. This goes on until Unknown yells, "Drop!" Most of the toys but Iago and Donald dropped. "I said drop!"

The remaining toys drop their cones. This causes two cars to swerve around them like mad and crash a bit, with one of the tire  caps rolling down.

"Go!" Bugs order as the gang moves onward.

Iago gulps a bit under his cone as he kept on continuing. A monster truck went over him fast, causing the parrot to twirl a bit. After recovering, he frowns and moves onward.

"Drop," Bugs order. The cones dropped, causing a car to turn around unexpectedly; a truck with a huge tunnel barrel chained to the back screech to a halt while honking its horn. The thing went over the gang while twirling. "Go!"

As the toys move onward, the chains on the barrel broke and soon the big item is rolling towards the toys. Donald was moving but yelps as one of his webbed feet got caught in gum, causing it to fell off himself. The duck, unaware of the danger, turns back and feels for it. He soon found his foot and begins pulling it as the barrel is almost upon him.

Luckily, Donald was able to get his foot out, putting it back on before getting out of the way in time. The gum got rolled onto the barrel instead. A while later, all of the toys reach the other side safe and sound.

Soon Bugs was next to last to take off his cone disguise before Donald came over to thrown away his.

"Well, that went well." Donald issued off from fixing his hat from thinking that wasn't so bad.

Course as the duck toy said that, traffic build up was really terrible from the truck that blocked out way entrance while it's large pile rolled off. Then it crashed into something, which brought down a street lamp and a lot of folks were complaining while the toys were hidden near some newspaper stand cases.

"The odds of survival were 40 percent, 40 percent of being crushed, 10 percent of an accident for either survival or being crushed?" Nicole asked Unknown if she should state how bad the situation that they survived in could have been for them.

"I think it's best we keep this to ourselves instead of worrying the others." Unknown spoke to the lynx girl toy that some things…are best left unsaid at times.

"Okay, good job , soldier boys. We're that much closer to Mickey," Bugs congrats the group here for a job well done in crossing the road. Soon the toys begin to now move out while the screen shows itself zooming away to a familiar apartment. And had the rescue party knew that where they were going was the opposite of their destination, boy, would they themselves feel silly about now.

Cartman paces back and forth in his home until he hears the doorbell rang. That must be the toy cleaner! The fat boy opens the door and saw someone outside. He is bald old man in suspenders, white shirt, and brown pants. His name is Grandpa Phil.

"About time you're here!" Cartman exclaims to Grandpa Phil with a smile. "I was getting freaked out."

"Is the specimen ready to be cleaned?" Grandpa Phil ask Cartman who nods anxiously. The boy wants this job  be done ASAP.

Cartman helps Grandpa Phil in the fixing as he put down a tool kit and opens some drawers. Inside them are everything needed to fix a toy as well a small barber-like chair. The old man came prepared for everything!

Grandpa Phil took out Mickey from the cabinet and put him in the 'chair', holding him into place before attaching a bib onto the toy mouse. The old man looks amused. This Mickey toy looks like something his great grandson Melvin Hargraves used to had that scared him (well, according to his grandson Arnold who told him that's what his son Melvin has said).

Grandpa Phil raises Mickey up as an anxious Cartman ask, "So how long is this going to take?"

"You don't rush art." Grandpa Phil snaps sternly to Cartman as he turns on the light to get to work.

The scene opens to where there was a portrait of cows in a farm field & 'mooing' sounds before what came next was an actual shopping  cart with a cow's front head figure. From zooming around, we see the portrait as a big billboard, and the moving cart was actually Tommy's toys rushing it towards an empty parking lot. Leading straight towards Eric's Toy Fortress building where lots of other carts were a bit scattered about. But from getting closer to the glass door, a sign was out that said 'Sorry, We're CLOSED' on it.

"Oh, no; it's closed you guys." Goofy groans to say in seeing they arrive to their destination, only for it to be closed.

"Well duh! We're not preschool tops, Goofy. We can read." Donald remotely issued from below the cart was the other toys that hid under their cart to not be seen.

"This may be a problem. If the doors are automatically locked, we'll need to find another way in & bypass security  measures." Nicole spoke in calculating the situation that if the store is closed, they'll have to break in & be careful if security is tight.

Or would they...?

At this moment, a noise was heard that got the toys attention. Coming from nearby was some uniform dress employee drinking a cup of coffee; He was blonde haired boy with a backwards blue hat, a white tank top shirt, blue shorts and sneakers named Toast, who works for Eric's Toy Fortress. As the toys watched with curiosity, this human walked near the black rubber rug that made the glass door slide open. "Hey, Toast, you're late." Another employee yelled out to the guy that just came in for being late on the dot. "We've got a ton of toys to unload." The upset guy scolded Toast about their situation while Tommy's toys watched this with interest; maybe what they saw is their way to get in.

"All right; all right. I'm comin'. I'm comin." Toast held up his hand to calm his upset vice-manager for slacking off before he was in and the glass doors shut themselves afterwards.

"Or perhaps, the workers don't want customers, and so they'll just get in to do their work." Unknown spoke with rubbing his chin in surprise to see the store's door is not 'truly' locked with the store being closed, so now their chance has gone up again to enter it.

"All right; with a problem solved. Let's go boys, and girl." Bugs signal off a hand sign to have the determine toys follow the rabbit.

"But-but, Bugs, dugh, the sign says it's closed. Doesn't that mean we can't go in?" Willie spoke out worried while all the other toys were racing off the cart.

"Normally for humans, but it doesn't apply  to toys on a mission," Unknown explained this to the giant toy of the overlooked technicality of such an issue point.

"It appears to open the slide doors, the man simply press his feet to the motion detection function. It may have a sensor weight motion to detect a human needing entry." Nicole explained from using her super-computer smart programing to figure out their only way to enter inside by human means while as toys may need to improvise.

"Okay then everybody, time we play a little hopscotch." Bugs issued out the order in what they need to do to get inside.

Soon the toys reached the black rubble ground rug before the glass doors. Soon they all started to jump on the black floor motion mate, but everyone was a bit out of sync here.

"Wooh; No, no, no, no; Cease you guys, Nicole said there was a weight sensor. So...All together," Bugs was stopping the others while Unknown stopped earlier in seeing their progress was not working, and so they waited before... "Now; JUMP," Bugs signal off to issue as all of the toys jumped as one and landed hard as one.

The glass door was opening while making a cow sound before they all were rushing inside. They were quickly on the move, but Willie the Giant stops to turn to spot something near a stack display of books  , comics, even game guides. And one of them caught Willie's eye, one label 'Bugs Bunny, Attack on Swackhammer' that was a Video Game Strategy Guide. But on a flashy star spot, it read words so clear as crystal, 'Want to Defeat Swackhammer; Secrets Revealed!' on it.

"Wahahah-hoooh; Dugh, the answer to my video game prays has come-in to me! Oh boy," Willie was shaking his hands in almost being astounded, this was big, a chance to finally learn the guide to winning the game that he played & defeat Bugs Bunny's evil arch-enemy, this was just what he needed.

"Willie, you coming," Nicole's voice called out to her giant friend that was way behind the group.

"Um, in a minute Nicole, I'm just picking up something nice is all." Willie spoke off before quickly grabbing the video game guide book  to rejoin the others.

Meanwhile, Bugs, Unknown & the others without Willie walked on over towards a checkout register  spot to find….a large store stack of lots of toys in stock-market.

"Gwarsh, Oh Nelly; How are we gonna find Mickey in this place?" Goofy asked off when he and the others stopped to marvel at the toy store, it's so big, Mickey could be anywhere.

Bugs deactivates his helmet to speak while Willie was coming up behind with his video game guide booklet, "Simple Goof. Look for Eric. We find laughing boy Eric, then of course, we find Mickey Mouse." Bugs pointed out a simple formula, they find Eric Cartman, and when the gang finds him, they'll find out where Mickey could be. "Now let's move out!" The rabbit toy waved off his hand to signal that they begin to go in search for their prime targets.

"Then in that case, I suggest we split into teams." Unknown suggested what they must do to secure more ground work here. "I'll go down one area with Nicole to the far left, Willie & Donald, down the other second left in the middle, Iago & Goofy, check the center one near the right of us." He explained the plan of how they'll each go into teams of two to double the effort of eyes & ears if they find something.

"And that leaves the far right for Bugs. Are you sure you'll be okay on your own?" Nicole stated what was left, but felt worry if Bugs be fine without someone to watch his back.

"No worries Nicole, I've gone against things on my own that Bugs Bunny hasn't face before, I'll be okay." Bugs held up his hands to calm the lynx girl toy that he'll be fine, what can he face that he can't handle, right?

With everything in order, did the toys split in groups, Unknown & Nicole took the far left, Willie & Donald the center left, Iago & Goofy the center right & Bugs near the far right.

"Wohohho, oh boy, oh boy; Dugh, this is good stuff!" Willie laughs off joyfully in looking through his game guide to winning his game back home.

"Mickey?" Iago called out for the mouse toy to respond to him if he's here.

"Mickey." Donald called out for any response from Mickey if he's around.

Soon all Tommy's Toys go in their own separate directions to find Eric Cartman & find Mickey Mouse. All while unaware…that neither were in the store at this present moment.

During this time, Grandpa Phil is using a cotton swab and some liquid to make Mickey all shiny to clean him out where he was smooth, ears included. The old man now uses a spray that was for spray paint. He covers up parts that Grandpa Phil wasn't spray painting as he spray his face.

Next, Grandpa Phil took some paint and spray paint Mickey's nose (minus the holes). With a magnifier and some more, he examines the small tear on Mickey's arm.

Grandpa Phil took a needle and thread and let the latter go through the former carefully. Once it's secured, he begins work on fixing Mickey's arm, making sure that it's on tight.

Grandpa Phil polish Mickey's boots  then takes yellow paint; Using it via a paint brush, he checks the foot which is labeled 'Tommy'...and paints over it. No one can ever tell that the toy mouse really belonged to someone else.

With Mickey clean and done, Grandpa Phil put the mouse back into his case. Once the thing is closed, he turns to Cartman saying, "There. He is for display only. If you played with him too much, the mouse won't last long just like the other toys that my nasty great-grandson usually has"

Cartman shoves Grandpa Phil aside, grinning as he exclaims, "It's amazing, you're a genius! He is just like new!"

Mickey is now cleaned, now Cartman can get to what he was planning on doing last night.

Author's note
Mickey is fixed but the name 'Tommy' appears to be gone from his foot. In the next chapter, Unknown and Nicole run into someone that the former knows very well while Bugs run into...himself! Read, review and suggest.

The start at the chapter references to a blooper in ‘Toy Story 2’ which has Bugs in the role of Flik of ‘A Bug’s Life’ and Genie in the role of Heimlich.

Since Grandpa Phil is Arnold's grandpa on their show, I felt like they should share a connection in this series of fanmakes, as well as Melvin Hargraves who played Sid in the previous ‘Classic Toy Story’ story.
